I’ve been in the publishing business for more than 20 years, starting out as a technical writer and editor for an accounting software company. I managed the technical publications team which included writers both in the U.S. and U.K. As you might imagine, after five years of very dry writing and editing, the creative side of me begged to be unleashed. I focused on learning all I could about layout, design, and graphic design before becoming co-publisher and editor of Piedmont Living, a large, regional publication in Virginia. Later, I focused on writier and design for individual clients, adding menu engineering and design to my resume.
To date, I’ve designed hundreds of magazines, periodicals and newspapers, thousands of display ads and other collateral materials, and hundreds of restaurant menus.
I currently work as a consultant to restaurant owners and managers, focusing on menu engineering. I help my clients improve or maintain their profitability through carefully designed menus and menu updates.
